Content for SEO: write things worth finding.
Content for SEO means creating pages that answer what your customers search for, better than anything else out there. Google says it aims to reward helpful, reliable, people-first content, and it looks for signs of experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust (E-E-A-T). Whether a person or an AI tool helps write it matters less than whether it's original, accurate and genuinely useful.
Content that ranks
Content that gets found vs. content that gets ignored
The difference is rarely length or keywords. It's usefulness.
| Gets ignored | Gets found | |
|---|---|---|
| Starts with | A keyword | A real question from a real customer |
| Opens with | A long intro | The answer, then the detail |
| Proof | Generic claims anyone could make | Examples, first-hand experience and linked sources |
| Structure | Walls of text | Clear headings, short sections, lists and tables |
| Use of AI | Published as-is, at scale | Used as a helper, then checked, edited and given real experience |
| After publishing | Forgotten | Linked from related pages and updated when things change |
NoteGoogle's spam policies target large amounts of unoriginal, low-value content made mainly to manipulate rankings, "no matter how it's created."
My process
How I build a guide that ranks
Start with the question.
Find the exact question your customer asks and what they need to do next.
Study what already ranks.
Search it yourself. Note what the top results cover, and what they all miss.
Answer first, then go deeper.
Give the short answer up top, then the steps, examples and edge cases.
Add proof.
Use real examples, screenshots, data and links to primary sources. This is where experience shows.
Link it in and keep it fresh.
Link from related pages, and update it when facts change, not just the date.

FAQ
Questions people ask about Content for SEO
Is AI-written content bad for SEO?
Not by itself. Google's spam policies target large amounts of unoriginal content with little value made mainly to manipulate rankings, no matter how it's created. Use AI as a helper, then add real experience, check every fact and edit it properly.
How long should a blog post be?
As long as it takes to fully answer the question, and no longer. Google's helpful content guidance says plainly that it doesn't have a preferred word count.
What is E-E-A-T?
It stands for experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness. Google uses it to describe what makes content reliable, and says that of these, trust is most important.
Should I update old blog posts?
Yes, when you can genuinely improve them. Don't just change the date: Google's guidance specifically warns against changing page dates to seem fresh when the content hasn't substantially changed.
How often should I publish?
There's no magic number. A steady pace of genuinely useful pieces beats bursts of rushed content. Updating your best existing pages often counts as much as new ones.
